Five Years

Five years ago today Apple discontinued development of the Newton. I've owned two of them, an MP100 and an MP130. I still have the 100 around somewhere as an artifact of old tech.

Missing: BBEdit Lite

Looks like my favorite Macintosh text editor is no more. BBEdit Lite has been pulled and replaced with a $50 replacement, Text Wrangler. Looks to have a handful more features, but I haven't kept up with what was offered in BBEdit to tell if the new product is just an upgraded BBEdit Lite.

Grammy Surprise

Watched most of the Grammy awards last night, which reminded me that I guess I'm much too old for them, a feeling probably shared by most in attendance. I was pleasantly surprised by the Clash tribute, which they kept mentioning before commercials. I fearded the worst, but seeing Elvis Costello, Dave Grohl, Bruce Springsteen & Little Steven, and what appeard to be No Doubt's rhythm section do a great version of London Calling was pretty cool as awards show tributes go. Time to dig that cd out and bring it to work.

Bonnie Hunt

Came across a couple of interviews with Bonnie Hunt recently: First one, second one. I tend to watch her latest series (when I remember it is on), but I really wish her earlier shows (The Building and The Bonnie Hunt Show) were on DVD. Each one ran for a handful of episodes before being cancelled. There's even an episode guide for The Bonnie Hunt show online.
