Los Lobos at Symphony Center

Saw Los Lobos last Friday night at the Symphony Center downtown. We bought tix for the show some time ago after hearing on the radio that they were back on tour, and that was pretty much it. I did a little research a day or two before the show and learned that it was the last show of the tour, and an acoustic tour at that. Needless to say the show was great and I'm keeping my eyes open for a copy of the show.

Real Unusual

I was flipping through a recent copy of Real Simple they other day (don't ask) and spotted a strangely familiar face in an article about favorite pieces of clothing: Marisa LaDuca (now Marisa LaDuca Crandall). She was a neighbor of ours (actually lived a block over) back when I was a kid in Park Forest, she had a most excellent treehouse in their back yard. I remembered that she had moved to Philly when I was a kid, just don't remember what year. Did a little Web searching to see if I could come up with an e-mail address, but no luck.

Marisa, if you end up finding this entry, drop me a line sometime.

Running, semi-seriously?

Last couple of days before the Shamrock Shuffle 8K, which is Sunday morning. I had signed up for the CARA 8K Training Program this year as well, and like it a little better than last year's version. As a result, I've decided to go further, and have signed up for the Half Marathon Training Program, which starts next week. Even picked up a water bottle/hydration belt sort of thing at Fleet Feet: Amphipod's Run Lite Snap Flask 4. Pretty cool tool. Four 8 oz bottles (I'm currently using just two) that can be mounted just about anywhere on the belt. There are also two little pockets, one a pouch and one as part of the belt itself.

Currently waiting for the weather to finally warm up for good. Too much running in tights, jacket, hat, and gloves this year. (I've successfully avoided running indoors on a treadmill this year.)

History of Chinese Democracy

Great article at the NY Times on the Guns N Roses album that'll probably never get completed and released. A strange tale of recording and rerecording with an ever-changing lineup of musicians and producers since 1994 or so, a chicken coop, and millions of dollars.

New Krafwerk Product

Saw this in the morning's e-mail: Kraftwerk's Minimum-Maximum Set. Strange collection of formats, accroding to the article:

2 Disc DVD, 2 Disc Hybrid Surround Sound SACD, 2 Disc CD and 4 Disc Vinyl LP editions of the concert performances.

I'll have to keep my eyes out for more info on this.

NewsRadio DVD

Looks like the NewsRadio DVD is finally coming out on May 24. I can finally toss those old VHS tapes I have.

To me, this is probably the best workplace comedy since WKRP.
