Last entry of the year

I dug through the 2005 entries posted here on Ivory Tower and came up with these highlights from the archives.

Discovered the iPhoto plugin called Photon, which allows you to send images right into a new entry in Movable Type. Pretty neat little piece of code that I used on the old photolog site located here. I need to recreate the photolog sometime soon (Note to self: review the instructions/tutorial at moonpost.com).

Macworld brought the iPod Shuffle (I own one, very nice) and the Mac Mini (I do not own one, although it'd be more desireable if it was faster, had a bigger disk, and had a Superdrive at a lower cost). Yeah, I know, too much to ask.

Saw Los Lobos at Symphony Center in March and at the new Charter One lakefront pavillion or whatever it is called at the end of August. Both shows were quite excellent and really showed the range that the band has. Saw Kraftwerk at the Riviera in June. Another excellent show.

I posted a little list of my top favorite music videos in May. So did Adam.

Did the MS150 bike ride (150 miles in two days) in June. Ran a half marathon in September. Guess I was pretty active in 2005.

Watched most of Lance's last Tour in July. Not as exciting overall as the previous couple of years, but there were some pretty good days in there.

Finally got a new iBook in August.

Ivory Tower went dormant in much of August and December as my Movable Type installation toasted itself for some strange reason. Note to others: back up and use MYSQL.

This year would have been my 20-year high school reunion, but nothing came to fruition. Still a top result at Google and MSN for that phrase and variations.

For 2006, things I need to add to the site: return of the photolog, return of the Amazon wishlist link, return of the What I'm Reading section, and the Contact Me link.

Happy New Year!

End of the year wrap-up

I'm a little envious of the top-ten or top-whatever lists I'm seeing on various websites this time of year. I'd like to come up with one or two, but I haven't been keeping very good notes in 2005. That, coupled with the failure of my MT installation (resulting in some lost entries, the death of my little photolog, and what books I was reading and keeping track of in BookQueue) this summer, makes pickings a little slim. I'll review my monthly archives and see what I can come up with.

In the meantime, there's the BBC's list of 100 things we didn't know this time last year. Enjoy.

Future Futurama?

Looks like Futurama could be coming back in the near future. Found at Slashdot.

More NewsRadio

OK, more on DVD, that is. NewsRadio Season 3 will be out on DVD on 2/28/06. Includes commentary on 10 episodes and a gag reel.

IE5 for Mac Finally Dead

Ah, how times have changed. What was once (back in OS 9 times) the best Mac browser is soon to fade away at the end of January. Not too big of a deal, except that there are still sites out there that'll only work in IE.

Los Lobos @ The Fillmore

Los Lobos @ The Fillmore this weekend. Damn, they're even playing all of Kiko. That's an incredible album. I'd really like to see them at the Fillmore some day.
