I am a Cliche/Rock God

After the holidays, it became time to pick the project for 2006. I decided to buy a guitar and learn how to play it. Actually, relearn how to play, since I took six weeks of lessons on an old acoustic guitar back in the early 1980s.

Fueled by a Guitar Center ad and research done on the internet, I bought a Squier '51 in Vintage Blonde (kind of a banana pudding color, actually). The thing is basically a Stratocaster body, a Telecaster neck, and the pickguard from a 1951 P-Bass. Also scored the requisite amp, strap, cable, stand, and a handful of picks.

I don't remember where I read it, but the largest growing section of the electric guitar buying market is guys in their late 30s buying the guitars they wish they would have bought back in high school. Hmmm...that sounds vaguely familiar.
