Running Geek
I think I've now officially crossed over into running geek mode. The Garmin 305 just arrived:
GPS goodness and all sorts of data to track.
Now if the weather would just warm up I could get back into running again.

Great review of the first issue of Wired here. Much of what is mentioned there held true for the early years of the magazine--crazy layouts & color choices. It was a wonderful internet resource in a pre-web world of Gopher and mailing lists.
A browsing of Wired's cover archive reminds me that I started reading the magazine back in 1994 with issue 2.03, the Laurie Anderson cover. Tossed a whole bunch of the back issues out a couple of years ago, although I still have a handful of random issues sitting around the office at work.
Great interview with cyclist and commentator and man-about-town Bob Rollabout the state of cycling, drug use in professional sports. Nice beard, dude.
Great link: Unboxing photos on Flickr of an unopened Apple IIc recently bought on Ebay. A IIc was the first real computer we had at home when I was a wee lad, actually.
Good news: 32 GB version available. About time.
Bad news: $499, $100 more than the 16 GB version.
Rats, I was hoping for a price drop as well. Oh well, maybe this summer.
Just learned that Alton Brown will be appearing at the Museum of Science and Industry (an appropriate place if there ever was one) on March 15. Sadly, tickets are $40, which seems a bit steep for an hour-long lecture, a Q&A, and a book signing. Think I'll pass. Would have been nice to see him several years ago before he was a cornerstone of the Food Network.
